Beginning knitting classes are best suited for those 10 years and older, and are two sessions of two hours each. They're great for those that have never knitted before, or those that haven't knitted for awhile and just want to brush up on the basics.
The first session is focused on picking out your yarn and needles and learning the basic stitch. At the beginning knitting class, you'll start with the basic knitting stitch and make a scarf. Your instructor is there the entire time to help you along the way to fix snags and other mishaps you might run into. As soon as you feel comfortable knitting on your own, you take the scarf home and finish it before the next class.
The second session is spent "casting off" the scarf, and learning the pearl stitch. If you didn't finish the scarf at home on your own time between sessions, then you can also spend the first part of session two finishing the scarf.
Once you've finished the two series beginning knitting classes, you can take other beginning classes and begin making projects, such as socks, slippers and hats.
