Holiday Recipes from Naborhood Bakery

Mark and Judy from Naborhood Bakery shared one of their favorite holiday comfort food recipes with us!

The holidays are our favorite time of year, but we know they can be some of the most hectic times too. We like to make this bread pudding ahead of time so we can enjoy it after all the craziness of Christmas day.

Orange Bread Pudding
1-1/4 cups milk
¾ cups cream
2 tablespoons butter
2 large eggs, slightly beaten
½ cup sugar
¼ tsp. salt
½ tsp. vanilla
½ container Naborhood Bakery Orange Icing
6 Naborhood Bakery Orange Rolls, baked &, cut into cubes

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Combine milk, cream & butter; scald.
  3. Combine eggs, sugar, salt & vanilla & icing.
  4. Gradually whisk milk mixture into egg mixture.
  5. Place bread cubes into a 2 quart casserole; add milk mixture.
  6. Place a larger shallow pan in oven.  Place the casserole into the larger pan.  Pour very hot water, 1” deep into larger pan.
  7. Bake 45 to 55 minutes, or until a knife inserted 1 inch from the edge comes out clean.
  8. Serve warm or chilled.  45 minutes after baking is a perfect temperature!
Figgy bread pudding
Add to Orange Bread Pudding:
¼ tsp cloves
½ tsp cinnamon
½ cup chopped figs or dates (I prefer dates)
½ cup chopped pecans
Bake as directed above.

Now you can put on your robe and fluffy slippers and enjoy!
Merry Christmas!
