Holiday Family Photo Tips

Highlite Photography has long since enjoyed this time of year helping families with their Christmas Cards photos. Although it's nice to have a professional take them for you, many people opt to do them for themselves.  There are a few tips to keep in mind that will help ease the pain (as most men refer to it) when it comes to your holiday photos.

  1. EAT!! Make sure everyone has eaten or that the session isn't near dinner time.  No one feels like walking around, standing up and down if they are hungry.
  2. Put the clothes you are planning to wear on right before the session.  This avoids spills in the car, pen, water, etc.
  3. Bring along a brush & hairspray-plan on freshening up everyone right before the shoot.
  4. Have a reward for everyone once the session is done-that way everyone can look forward to something when it is done.
  5. Don't expect too much--if your children don't sit still-don't expect that they will sit for a picture.  If they feel like they are in trouble during the session, tears will be free flowing.
  6. Have fun!  The most important thing is to have fun as a family. If you make the session painful once, they won't forget it!
  7. Last but not least, if you try and fail-HIRE a PROFESSIONAL.
Call and mention that you saw this on Gardner Village blog and you can receive $20 off your "Gettin' Nuttin' for Christmas" portrait session this Saturday, November 17th.  Call today at 801-569-1749-space is limited!

  1. Great tips. My tip is always DON'T STRESS OUT, but then again, I had MY OWN family get a shoot last week, and I couldn't sleep the night before I was so excited/stressed. Hypocrite! ;)

    1. Thanks Liza...I think it's always easier to "say" not to stress out then actually putting that into practice.

We'd love to hear from you. Please leave your message.
